Dr. Riad Roomi
Our surgeon is Dr. Riad Roomi, a British/American national of Iraqi origin. He is highly experienced with over 30 years of experience in the field of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
He practiced in London, U.K., KSA and Dubai. He is a fellow of the International College of Surgeon (FICS) and Board Certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and a Diplomate of American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. He served as an examiner for both boards for many years. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He published many papers in Medical Journals and taught in many countries. He had achieved a high rate of patient’s satisfaction.
Dr. Roomi had invented and patented some medical devices. One of his invention (a needle-less wound closure device called “Ready-Stitch” had won the first prize of Toshiba Year of Invention Competition In 1989 out of circa 4,000 inventions. He was also awarded a gold medal at the British House of Lords for the best invention in that year. A book entitled the “The Best of British Men” have written about Dr. Roomi and his inventions.
Most Common Procedures
Liposuction
We use tumescent (Local Anaesthesia) technique awake system. Patients can go home the same day and can resume their daily activities after 2 days. Our American Board certified surgeon, Dr. Riad Roomi have developed a technique that leaves very little or no bruising at all. He is highly experienced in 3D liposculpture. Any body areas that has stubborn fat collection can be treated by liposuction since the skin has the ability to shrink after the procedure.
A surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms or neck. Liposuction also shapes (contours) these areas. Other names for liposuction include lipoplasty and body contouring.
Liposuction isn't typically considered an overall weight-loss method or a weight-loss alternative. You may be a candidate for liposuction if you have too much body fat in specific spots but otherwise have a stable body weight.
When you gain weight, fat cells increase in size and volume. In turn, liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in a specific area. The amount of fat removed depends on the appearance of the area and the volume of fat. The resulting contour changes are generally permanent — as long as your weight remains stable.
After liposuction, the skin molds itself to the new contours of the treated areas. If you have good skin tone and elasticity, the skin is likely to appear smooth. If your skin is thin with poor elasticity, however, the skin in the treated areas may appear loose.
Some liposuction procedures may require only local or regional anesthesia — anesthesia limited to a specific area of your body. Other procedures may require general anesthesia, which induces a temporary state of unconsciousness
The surgical team will monitor your heart rate, blood pressure and blood oxygen level throughout the procedure. The procedure may last up to several hours, depending on the extent of fat removal.
Facelift
As you get older, the appearance and shape of your face is altered because of normal age-related changes. Your skin becomes less elastic and looser, and fat deposits decrease in some areas of your face and increase in others. A facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure which can be done to create a youthful appearance in your face. It involves elevating the skin and tightening the underlying tissues and muscles. Fat in the face and neck may be sculpted, removed or redistributed. Facial skin is then re-draped over the newly repositioned contours of the face, excess skin is removed, and the wound is stitched. A facelift can be done in our clinic under local anaesthesia or to an outpatient surgical facility.
Eyebrows Lifting
Aging typically causes the brows to move down. As skin and soft tissues lose elasticity, the distance between the eyebrows and eyelashes also shortens. The lower position of the eyebrows can make you look tired, angry or sad. A brow lift can raise the eyebrows and restore a refreshed, more pleasing appearance.
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift or forehead rejuvenation, is a cosmetic procedure to raise the brows. A brow lift improves the appearance of the forehead, the brow and the area around the eyes by raising the soft tissue and skin of the forehead and brow.
Blepharoplast
As you age, your eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess fat may gather above and below your eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, droopy upper lids and bags under your eyes.
Besides making you look older, severely sagging skin around your eyes can reduce your side vision (peripheral vision), especially the upper and outer parts of your field of vision.
Blepharoplasty can reduce or eliminate these vision problems and make your eyes appear younger. It is a type of surgery that repairs droopy eyelids and may involve removing excess skin, muscle and fat.
Otoplasty
You might choose to have otoplasty if you're bothered by how far your ears stick out from your head. You might also consider otoplasty if your ear or ears are misshapen due to an injury or birth defects. Otoplasty is also known as cosmetic ear surgery, it is a procedure to change the shape, position or size of the ears. Otoplasty is typically done on both ears to optimize symmetry.
Brachioplasty
As you get older, the skin on your upper arms changes, sagging and becoming loose. Significant weight loss also can cause the undersides of your upper arms to droop.
While exercise can strengthen and improve muscle tone in the upper arm, it can't address excess skin that has lost elasticity. You might choose to have an arm lift if the undersides of your upper arms are sagging.
A cosmetic surgical procedure can be done to improve the appearance of the under portion of your upper arms. Excess skin and fat are removed from between the armpit and elbow. The remaining skin is placed back over the newly repositioned contours to create a more toned look.
Tummy tuck
You might choose to have a tummy tuck if you have excess fat or skin around the area of your bellybutton or a weak lower abdominal wall.
A tummy tuck can remove loose, excess skin and fat, and tighten weak fascia. A tummy tuck can also remove stretch marks and excess skin in the lower abdomen below the bellybutton. It is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the abdomen.
During a tummy tuck — also known as abdominoplasty — excess skin and fat are removed from the abdomen. Connective tissue in the abdomen (fascia) usually is tightened with sutures as well. The remaining skin is then repositioned to create a more toned look.
By removing excess skin and fat and strengthening your abdominal wall, a tummy tuck can give your abdomen a more toned and slimmer appearance.
Gynecomastia
Also known as moobs or a large male breasts. Many men suffer from this condition for genetic, hormonal or weight gain reasons. Some medicines can also cause gynecomastia. The technique to reduce the condition is minimally invasive, which involves liposuction of major part of the breasts and removal of glands through a small incision above the nipple. The scars are almost invisible. Redundant skin shrinks well by wearing a special compression garments. This is unlike other technique, still used by some surgeon, which leaves an invented “T” shaped scar.
Breast Surgery
Breast Augmentation (Enlargement)
Ladies who wish to have larger breasts can benefit from this procedure. The usual method is by insertion of silicon implants. This is a straight forward procedure. Patients can go home the same day. There are many types of implants which can be placed under the breasts or under the muscles. The choice of the implants and the plane would be decided at the consultation with our American Board certified surgeon. There is an alternative to silicon implants that is by fat transplantation (transfer). It was found that fat contains 10% of stem cells. This technique has the benefit of being minimally invasive which would lead to a more natural result and no visible scar.
Brest Reduction
Some ladies suffer from unduly large breasts as a result of breast feeding or putting on some weight. Large breasts can cause back or neck pain as a result. The size of the breasts can be reduced remarkable by surgically removing part of the skin and breasts tissue. Nipples are lifted into a more natural position. The wounds usually heal well and the scars are inconspicuous.
Breast Lifting (Mastopexy)
Some women may suffer from a droopy or saggy breasts. This maybe as result of breast feeding or weight loss. The procedure involves removing the excess skin and lifting the nipple to reshape the breasts and give them a more natural look.
Breasts Reduction
Also known as reduction mammaplasty, it is a procedure used to remove excess fat, tissue and skin from the breasts. If you have large breasts, you might choose to have breast reduction surgery to ease discomfort or to achieve a breast size proportionate to your body. Successful breast reduction surgery can relieve pain in your upper back, neck and shoulders.
Breasts Lifting
As you get older, your breasts change — losing elasticity and firmness. There are many causes for these kinds of breast changes, including:
Pregnancy. During pregnancy, the ligaments that support your breasts might stretch as your breasts get fuller and heavier. This stretching might contribute to sagging breasts after pregnancy — whether or not you breast-feed your baby.
Weight fluctuations. Changes in your weight can cause your breast skin to stretch and lose elasticity.
Gravity. Over time, gravity causes ligaments in the breasts to stretch and sag.
It is also known as mastopexy, it is a surgical procedure to change the shape of your breasts. During a breast lift, excess skin is removed and breast tissue is reshaped to raise the breasts.
Breast Augmentation
Also known as augmentation mammoplasty — it is a surgery to increase breast size.
It involves placing breast implants under breast tissue or chest muscles.
Sometimes, breast augmentation is done under local anesthesia in which you are awake and your breast area is numbed. Often, though, breast augmentation is done during general anesthesia, in which you're asleep for the surgery.

FAQs
Q: Will my operation be done in hospital or at the clinic?
A; It depends on the type of procedure and your preference. Generally speaking, most facial procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelids tucking), face lifting, under chin liposuction and fat injection can be done at the clinic under local aneasthetic and sleeping tablets. Small liposuction procedures of other parts of the body can be done the same way. However, more major procedure such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and breasts surgery are done in hospital under general anaesthetic.
Q: will there be any pain after the procedure?
A: Our surgeon uses the tumescent technique. This is by injecting a large amount of very diluted local anaesthetic.. This fluid remains in the tissues for many days. Therefore, post operative pain is very little if any. A simple pain killer such as Panadol is usually enough to control the pain. Even if you require general anaesthetic, the surgeon still injects the anaesthetic fluid so that when you come round, you do not have any pain
Q: What are the chances of getting an infection?
A: Infection is extremely rare in our practice. There are ma\ny reasons for that. It is established that most infection cases are caused by bacteria from the patient's own skin. Our surgeon insists on supplying the patient with Betidine scrub body wash to use in the shower for three days before the procedure and the day of the surgery. This policy will ensure that most if not all bacteria that normally live on the skin are eradicated. Giving prophylactic antibiotics, using the state of the art autoclave (sterilizing machine), and using disposable instruments when necessary will ensure a virtually infection free procedure. Further, our protocol is to ask the patients to visit the clinic regularly for wound care. This will also ensure that the wound is clean. Should there be any signs of early infection; steps are taken to treat it.
Q: Will there be any bruising after my procedure?
A: usually not. However, bruising depends on the blood liquidity of the patient and the type of procedure. In our practice, our surgeon had developed his own anti bruising technique. We have evidence based results of virtual zero bruising after most procedures we carried out.
Q: What is the down time of my procedure?
A: It depends on the procedure and its extend. For liposuction for example, the first two days are anti social because of the bulky dressing and some leakage of the local anaesthetic fluid. Once the dressing is changed (after 48 hours of the procedure) the patient ca go out for dinner or shopping for example. However, strenuous exercise should be avoided for 2-6 weeks depending on the area that had been treated.
Q: Will I be able to breast feed after silicone breasts augmentation?
A: It depends on whether the implants are placed under the muscle or under the breast tissue. Also if you have breast fed before and your milk ducts are open or not. Generally speaking, placing the implants under the muscle, in a lady who breast fed before wont cause any problems breast feeding in the future.
